At Shoreline Family Dentistry we offer tooth extractions for all teeth. Our most requested type of tooth extraction is wisdom tooth extraction. A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth surgically by a licensed dentist or oral surgeon for medical or cosmetic reasons. A tooth extraction might be considered for the following reasons:
- There is not sufficient room for the tooth or it is impacted: wisdom teeth crowding other teeth or growing in sideways
- A tooth or gums has become infected to the point it cannot be restored: tooth decay or severe gum disease
- A tooth or teeth needs to be extracted to make room for orthodontic treatment
- Tooth is broken or fractured beyond repair
- A baby tooth, or extra tooth is blocking new teeth from coming in
- Removal for dentures or bridge or other treatment
- The size of a tooth is unsuitable for a restoration, such as a crown
